Question: Cabbage patch kids--why has it never happened again? ?

I remember the stories of when Cabbage Patch Kids first came out of of the mob scenes, the riots when they first came out, my parents spoke of having to go across to the states to get one, seen a parent get punched in the face to get one etc. I knew I was supposed to be grateful to even get one even if it was the *one* I didn't want, nor the right style or the right sex but anyway... Why has another toy never reached that pandemonium? Even with all the cool electric toys you get these days, and the shortage of the product, there's never been another thing like it---why not? Not that I'm hoping for someone to fight for a toy- but why is it that the buildup for those dolls were soooo special, so worth forgetting your head and why hasn't there been another toy like that?!

Are you serious? An employee at a Walmart just died on Black Friday because the patrons pushed down the door and trampled him!! Granted, they may not have been there for the same toy, but they were there for shopping for Christmas.

Playstation 2 Nintendo Wii Tickle Me Elmo Furby Hannah Montana tickets Those have all been in short supply and high demand in their time... and since the beginning of sites like ebay, greedy mongers hoarde them so they can turn a profit from it by charging far far more than the actual cost of the item. My hope is that manufacturers have wised up and produce enough of the item to meet demand. So far, there are plenty of Elmo Live to go around... and the greedy stockpilers have not had the opportunity to gouge prices. Back in the Cabbage Patch Kids days, I was probably 9 and of course I wanted one. The store shelves were epty and my mom asked a store clerk if they had any in the back. She took a look and found ONE. And it was actually the perfect one for me. It was the right gender, had the right kind of hair, a cute outfit and was one of the very first with a pacifier. I had the most popular one in my class. (We girls took them to school everyday). She didn't push, fight, scream, or do any other crazy thing. She simply asked and minded her own business. If they didn't have any, then too bad for me. All this crazy stuff is un-called-for
